Probable Tracks from Pleistocene Animals Documented at McMinnville Mammoth Site

The footprints of Columbian Mammoth, Harlan Ground Sloth, and Ancient Bison may have been found during excavations at the McMinnville Mammoth Site.  More photos coming soon!

Many fields were represented during this project.  Included were paleontology, geology, archaeology, botany, biology, and hydrology. A physical anthropologist who is very familiar with the area provided the preliminary mammal bone identification.

The project was a collaborative effort that included the City of McMinnville, Star Rentals in Portland, Students from Portland Community College and Linfield College, volunteers from the paleontology laboratory at OMSI, and members of the Oregon Archaeological Society, and NARG.  These participants joined professionals, and experienced volunteers, to prepare and document these very rare features.
